About Me - David Keighley BA., Cert Ed., MOIP.
I am a qualified teacher, counsellor, psychotherapist and cognitive hypnotherapist, a combination of professional qualifications (and 30 years experience), which enables me to offer an expert proficiency in the treatment of many emotional conditions.
I hold British university qualifications in psychology, education and theology, and I am a member of a number of national organisations, including the Oxford Post-graduate Institute of Psychological Medicine, Associate Member of the Royal Society of Medicine and the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies. I am also an Anxiety Therapist for the ‘Phobic’s Society’ and qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) within the NHS. I also specialise in working with children’s emotional conditions.
I have taught psychotherapy and hypnotherapy to doctors, psychologists, nurses, teachers, social workers and other health professionals at various hospital Post-graduate Medical Centres and at Exeter University; also Post Traumatic Stress Disorder counselling to RAF personnel. I have worked in the adolescent unit of a psychiatric hospital and at schools treating disturbed behaviour. I also lecture on issues of emotional health and run day courses and group sessions.
My professional practice follows my associations' strict Code of Practice, including assured patient confidentiality. I hold full Professional Liability Insurance and a clear enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check.
